CSA Group’s Power Lunch at LightFair 2022, June 22nd

You are invited!

Limited seats available. Please register to save your spot.

Join CSA Group’s Power Lunch at LightFair at room W106 on June 22nd.

Learn from industry experts about current trends and challenges in UVC, Horticulture, and Cybersecurity, and learn how CSA Group can help you with testing and certification for your lighting products.

AGENDA:

11:00am - 11:30am – Everything about UVC that you didn’t know to ask

The rapid emergence of UVC LEDs has created a knowledge gap amongst consumers as well as some lighting manufacturers. A foundational understanding is critical for asking the right questions about your UVC applications.

Speaker: Eric Bretschneider, EB Designs & Technology

Eric Bretschneider has over 30 years of experience developing technology related to high-brightness LEDs. He is a noted expert in many fields including LED package design, phosphors, LED measurement/reliability, and intellectual property matters. Bretschneider currently works as an independent consultant in the LED industry and is a member of the IES, MRS, SPIE, and OSA. He holds 40+ U.S. patents related to LED technology and is both a speaker and an advisory board member for the conference program at Strategies in Light.

11:30am – 12:00pm – Cybersecurity at the DLC

The DesignLights Consortium (DLC) now requires that all listed network lighting control (NLC) systems be certified for cybersecurity. This initiative ensures that listed products have credible cybersecurity, which is important to the DLC and our energy efficiency members. In addition, by disclosing the cybersecurity standards or services available with each listed NLC system, decision makers can choose systems that manage cybersecurity risk appropriately for their application. This presentation will review the standards and services that are recognized by the DLC and may be adopted by NLC manufacturers to meet their cybersecurity needs.

Speaker – Leora C. Radetsky, DLC

Leora Radetsky is a Senior Lighting Scientist at the DesignLights Consortium (DLC) where she focuses on developing lighting solutions that promote energy optimization, quality, human factors, and performance in the areas of horticultural and architectural lighting. She has over 20 years of experience in the lighting industry as a research scientist with the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Director of Customer Education at Lighting Analysts, Inc. She has extensive research and engineering experience in horticultural lighting, lighting software, product testing, lighting controls, photometry, daylighting, outdoor lighting, and circadian rhythms. In 2014, she was awarded an IES Regional Technical Award from the Northeast region for her significant scientific contributions to the field of illumination. Leora has a B.S. in Architectural Engineering with an Emphasis in Illumination from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and an M.S. in Lighting from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She is Lighting Certified by the NCQLP.

12:00pm – 12:30pm – Horticultural Lighting – Relationship between plants and LEDs

A look at how plants ‘perceive’ light of various wavelengths, how horticulture lighting manufacturers are using LED technology to optimize growing, and how the testing and certification industry is helping to ensure that products are safe and performing to the consumers’ expectations.

Speaker - K. C Fletcher, CSA Group

KC Fletcher is currently Manager of the CSA Group Lighting Center of Excellence in Irvine, CA. Fletcher is an industry expert in the characterization of lifetime degradation of LED components and previously served as the LM80 Program Manager at CSA Group, later becoming the Operations Manager for the CSA Group-Seattle facility. He has been involved in the development and implementation of CSA Group’s horticultural gantry system for testing horticultural luminaires and has worked with industry organizations on developing horticultural performance standards. Prior to his time with CSA Group, Fletcher was a project manager for Orb Optronix Inc., specializing in LED product design, prototype validation testing, and custom LED metrology projects.

12:30pm – 5:00pm – Complimentary lunch, cocktails, and conversation
